The number of people living with a diagnosis of cancer continues to grow each year. Currently 10 million Americans alive today have been told at one time or another that they have cancer. Survival rates, now at 64 percent, are increasing annually. As this number grows and to help meet the special needs of this expanding and increasingly active population, a wide range of resources has evolved.
The PAGE Committee (Patient Advisory Group/Education) can help meet these needs. The PAGE Committee consists of a group of cancer survivors, family members, and Bassett Healthcare cancer program staff members. The primary mission of the PAGE Committee is to be a liaison between the cancer community and the Cancer Center. The Committee is involved in overseeing projects--the PAGE newsletter, the Information Center, surveys, and support programs--that benefit these patients. The Committee strives to become involved in and responsive to educational and political activities that affect cancer patients.
If you would like additional information on support services for people with cancer, please contact Clif Buell at the Louis Busch Hager Cancer Center at (607) 547-3336. A support group calendar may be found posted in all Bassett regional sites or you may call the Cancer Information Center at (607) 547-3076 for details. We look forward to serving you.
