Orthopaedics Outpatient
OBJECTIVES - To provide an experience in musculoskeletal injuries and diseases which would be common to any physicians office. The students will be primarily based in a clinic arrangement and accompany the attending orthopaedist to the Emergency Room as indicated. The experience would be in physical diagnosis and treatment of fractures, tendinitis, bursitis, knee, ankle, and ligament injuries. Hands-on experience of cast application, splinting, interarticular injection, and radiologist correlation for physical diagnosis would be emphasized.
FEEDBACK - The student would be working with the attending orthopaedist and physician assistants in the clinical setting.
EVALUATION - Provided to the student by the attending staff and senior resident staff at the end of the course.
DATA - Available all year. Four weeks recommended. Maximum number of students per month: One. Housing is provided when available, with the exception of the months of June and July.
