Quality Measures
The Bassett Healthcare Network is dedicated to constant improvement - improvement in quality of care and service, improvement in patient and staff safety, improvement in efficiency. We seek to do more things for our patients, to do them better and more promptly, and to do them in a fiscally responsible manner. Our organization is never satisfied with the status quo. To improve, we need to be able to carefully define and measure the current situation, or else we cannot say whether things improve or only just change.
We want our patients, their families and the public at large to be able to see those measurements. It's part of our accountability to our community. Quality Measures
The affiliated hospitals in the Bassett Healthcare Network submit information to the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to participate in their new Hospital Compare program. It shows compliance with 16 measures for four common hospital admissions for heart failure, a heart attack, pneumonia and surgical infection prevention.

Patient Perceptions of Care
Bassett participates with a national firm to survey patients about their health care experience.
Each month confidential telephone calls are made asking recent patients to rate their care and service.
The results are compared with other hospitals in our region, across New York and throughout the nation.
