Emergency Care

For life-threatening emergencies: 911

For major medical events that need immediate attention: Fox Emergency Department, 607-431-5000 (ask for the nurse)

For minor illness or injury : FoxNow, 607-431-5052

Fox Hospital Emergency Dept. is set up to serve critically ill and/or seriously injured persons of every age. We have the equipment and supplies to treat patients that non-emergency facilities may not.

When you arrive, you will meet with a Registered Nurse who will evaluate your condition and assign you to the most appropriate area of the department. It is very important that the most seriously ill and/or injured persons be treated first.

The emergency medical team consists of registered nurses who are compassionate and competent to care for individuals, families, groups and communities. We have physicians who are all board certified in emergency medicine and physician assistants who are specially trained for emergency care. Our ED also has emergency technicians who provide assistance with Laboratory work, EKG's, and transportation between the different departments. This emergency team works collaboratively and is specifically trained to treat all types of medical emergencies. Some of the most common are:

  • Heart attacks
  • Burn Injuries
  • Injuries form accidents at home or at work
  • Injuries from automobile accidents
  • Violence-related injuries
  • Poisonings

You will be allowed to have visitors with you during your treatment but, usually the number is kept to a minimum. This allows the emergency team sufficient space to do their job quickly and effectively. It ensures that the patients are receiving the best medical care as well as maintains an appropriate level of privacy. Every effort is made to keep your loved ones informed of your condition as well as allow them to be with you when possible.

No one will be turned away for an inability to pay for care received in our emergency department.
