Sleep is described as a natural and periodic state of rest during which consciousness of the world is suspended. We often worry about the quality of our sleep if our sleep patterns are affecting our functioning during the wakeful part of the day. If you or someone you care about has a sleep disorder, or you suspect one, you may want to make an appointment with one of our sleep specialists at Basssett's Sleep Disorders Center. We're here to help you get back to a good night's rest!
Sleep Lab Opens at Bassett Hospital of Scoharie County A new Sleep Lab for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders has opened at Bassett Hospital of Schoharie County. The lab, located on BHSC's upper level, next to the Ambulatory Care Center, boasts a comfortable four-bed unit staffed by an experienced technician, patient access specialist and a secretary. Two Tuesdays a month, Michael Bauer, M.D., a board certified pulmonary specialist and a diplomate of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, will see patients with sleep disorders, many of which require sleep studies. Bassett has offered a complete approach helping people with sleep disorders for more than a decade at the Cooperstown Sleep Lab campus, and it has been accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine since 1997. Patients do not have to be seen at BHSC to be tested in the BHSC Sleep Lab. For more information about the BHSC or the Cooperstown Sleep Lab, or to call regarding a patient appointment, call the sleep center secretary Nichole Rockwell at 607-547-6979.
